This guide shows how to combine multiple JPG or PNG images into a single, neatly sized PDF, fix sideways photos along the way, and keep the file small enough for upload portals.

Add your images and put them in order

Open JPG to PDF and press “Select images”, or drop all the photos onto the page. JPG, PNG and WebP work, and so do HEIC photos from an iPhone when your browser can open them. Each image appears as a thumbnail with its page number.

Drag thumbnails to reorder them — page 1 is the top-left tile. If your files are named in order (IMG_2041, IMG_2042…), the A→Z button sorts them by name in one click, and Reverse flips the whole order.

Choose a page size that suits the job

For documents that will be printed or submitted — forms, notes, receipts — choose A4 and leave orientation on Auto. Each photo is fitted inside the page with a small margin, and landscape photos get a landscape page automatically.

If you want every page to be exactly the size of its photo, for example for a photo album or screenshots, choose “Fit to image”. Letter and Legal sizes are there for documents going to the US.

“Image size on page” decides whether small images are stretched to fill the page (“Fit to page”) or kept at their natural size (“Actual size”). For a tiny passport photo, “Actual size” looks more natural.

Fix sideways photos before converting

Phones store photos with an orientation flag rather than actually rotating the pixels. Some converters ignore that flag, which is why photos sometimes come out sideways. JPG to PDF reads it, so photos appear the way your gallery shows them.

If a photo was taken sideways on purpose, hover over its thumbnail (or tap it on a phone) and use the rotate buttons. The change is applied when the PDF is created.

Keep the PDF small enough to upload

Photos from modern phones are 3–8 MB each, so ten of them make a very large PDF. Switch on “Smaller file for uploads” and each photo is re-saved at a sharp but lighter quality, typically cutting the file size several times over while keeping text readable.

If the portal’s limit is very strict, convert first and then use Compress PDF with a target size on the finished PDF.

One PDF or one PDF per image?

By default all images go into one PDF. Choose “PDF per image” when a portal wants each document as a separate file — for example photo, signature and ID proof uploaded in different boxes. You then get a ZIP with one PDF per image, named after the original photos.

Getting good photos of documents in the first place

The PDF can only be as good as the photos. Shoot documents in daylight or under a bright white light, with the phone held flat above the page so the edges are square. Tap the screen to focus on the text, and avoid your own shadow falling across the page.

Crop out the table or floor around the page in your gallery app before converting — it makes the page fill the PDF and keeps the file smaller. For multi-page documents, take the photos in page order so the file names already sort correctly.

Margins, orientation and how the page looks

Margins decide how much white space surrounds each photo. “Small” suits most documents and prints nicely; “None” makes the photo fill the page edge to edge, which is good for screenshots; “Large” gives a formal look for printouts.

Orientation “Auto” gives each page the orientation of its photo, so a landscape screenshot gets a landscape page and a portrait document gets a portrait page in the same PDF. Force Portrait or Landscape only if every page must match, for example for a bound printout.

How many images can I combine?

There is no fixed limit. Dozens of images work fine; very large batches are limited only by your device’s memory.

Will my photos lose quality?

Not by default — JPG and PNG images are placed into the PDF as they are. Quality is only reduced if you switch on “Smaller file for uploads”, and even then text stays readable.

Can I combine iPhone HEIC photos?

Yes, as long as your browser can open HEIC files (Safari can). If a HEIC photo will not open, share it from your iPhone as a JPG, or set Camera → Formats → Most Compatible.
