How to Convert Excel to PDF and Fit the Sheet on One Page
- Excel to PDF respects the print area and scaling saved in your workbook.

Why sheets split across pages
Excel doesn’t know how big a “page” is until you tell it. By default it prints at 100% scale, so a sheet wider than the paper spills onto extra pages. A PDF converter follows the same page setup, so the fix is to set the scaling in the workbook.
Set up the sheet in Excel
On the Page Layout tab, set Orientation to Landscape for wide sheets. Under Scale to Fit, set Width to 1 page and Height to Automatic — every column then fits across one page and rows flow onto as many pages as needed. Set a Print Area if only part of the sheet should appear.
Turn on Print Titles (rows to repeat at top) so the header row appears on every page of a long table. Save the workbook.
Convert to PDF
Open Excel to PDF and add your .xlsx (XLS, ODS and CSV work too). Press Convert. The converter uses LibreOffice and follows the print area, scaling, orientation and repeated titles you saved. Every visible worksheet is included in tab order, so hide sheets you don’t want before converting.
If a sheet still looks wrong
Very long sheets forced onto one page become tiny — fitting both width and height to 1 page shrinks everything. Fit width only. If columns are cut off, check for a leftover print area or cells with content far to the right. Gridlines appear only if Print Gridlines is ticked in Page Layout.
Numbers and formatting
Formatting, number formats, borders and charts carry over. Formulas are not live in a PDF — the PDF shows the values Excel last calculated, so recalculate and save first.
